Semiconductor fab expansion program
Exentec supported a major semiconductor capacity expansion in Malaysia to enable production readiness and facility ramp-up.
Project overview
The project supported one of the world's most advanced silicon carbide manufacturing expansions, including process bulk and specialty chemical systems, hygienic piping infrastructure, chemical dispense modules, VMBs and large-scale tool installation services. Exentec established off-site manufacturing capabilities to support programme delivery while mobilising specialist teams across multiple facilities to enable simultaneous construction and production ramp-up activities.
The challenge
A leading semiconductor manufacturer required critical process infrastructure and tool installation services to support the expansion of advanced silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) production facilities in Malaysia. The programme required the delivery of bulk and specialty chemical systems alongside large-scale tool installation activities, all within demanding schedule constraints while supporting construction, commissioning, qualification and operational readiness objectives.
Exentec's solution
Exentec established a dedicated temporary manufacturing facility close to the project site to assemble and fabricate chemical dispense modules and valve manifold boxes (VMBs), enabling accelerated delivery of critical process infrastructure. At the same time, dedicated tool installation teams supported production ramp-up activities across multiple fabrication facilities, leveraging specialist semiconductor expertise, proactive material procurement and expanded welding capacity to maintain project schedules.
The results
Exentec successfully delivered bulk and specialty chemical systems that enabled tool installation activities to commence earlier in the programme. The project supported construction, commissioning, qualification and operational readiness requirements while maintaining demanding schedule and budget objectives. Tool installation activities were completed in line with production requirements, enabling equipment qualification and wafer production milestones to proceed as planned.
Experience that delivers
